Why it matters
Hearing Is About the Conversations, Not the Audiogram
Most people who come to us are not worried about a test result. They are worried about the pub, the phone, the grandchildren and the television. That is what we ask about first, and it is what your results get explained against.
We are independent and family-run, based on Nelson Quay in Milford Haven, and we look after our neighbours.
Is it time?
Do Any of These Sound Familiar?
Hearing loss is gradual, so it's usually the people around you who notice first.
- I turn the TV up louder than everyone else likes
- I often ask people to repeat themselves
- I struggle to follow conversations in pubs, cafés or groups
- It feels like people mumble
- I miss the doorbell or the phone ringing
- I hear ringing or buzzing in my ears
- I find phone calls hard to follow
- Family or friends have mentioned my hearing
If you recognised two or more, a hearing test is worth doing. It takes about an hour, it's painless, and it's free.

What Happens at Your Appointment
Nothing here is uncomfortable, and nothing is a surprise.
A Proper Conversation
We start by talking. We'll ask about your hearing, your lifestyle, your work, your family and the situations you're finding hard, so the test is about you rather than a generic checklist.
We Look Inside Your Ears
A quick, painless video otoscopy check of both ears for wax or anything that needs attention. The picture is on a screen, so you can see exactly what we're seeing.
The Hearing Test Itself
You'll wear headphones in a quiet room and respond to sounds at different pitches and volumes. Nothing goes inside your ears, nothing is invasive, and there's nothing uncomfortable about it.
Your Results, Explained Plainly
We show you your audiogram, explain what it means in everyday terms and tell you honestly what your options are, if there are any. You'll leave knowing exactly where you stand.
And If You Don't Need Hearing Aids, We'll Tell You.
We're independent and family-run. There is no commission target here, no pressure, and no obligation to buy anything at your appointment or afterwards.

Good to know
Common Questions
Yes. Your hearing test at our Milford Haven clinic is free for anyone considering hearing aids, with no obligation to buy anything afterwards. We carry out a full assessment, explain your results plainly and tell you honestly whether anything needs doing. If it doesn’t, that’s the end of it. The one exception is if you need a diagnostic test and a written report to take away for another purpose, which is £45. Home visits are arranged separately by phone.
Allow about an hour — that’s the slot we book. It gives us time for a proper conversation about your hearing, a look inside your ears, the test itself and a clear explanation of your results. We never rush this part, and you’re welcome to ask as many questions as you like.
No. You can book directly with us online or by phone, and you don’t need to see your GP first. If the test shows anything that should be looked at by a doctor or an ear, nose and throat specialist, we’ll tell you and explain what to do next.
No. We’re an independent, family-run clinic with no sales targets and no commission. If your hearing is fine, or you’d be better served by something other than a hearing aid, we’ll say so. Any recommendation we make is explained clearly, and the decision is always yours, in your own time.
That’s very common, and it’s one of the first things we check. Looking inside your ears is part of every appointment, so if wax is the problem we’ll tell you straight away. Wax removal is a separate appointment, £50 for both ears, and we can test your hearing properly once your ears are clear.
Yes, and we’d encourage it. A partner, friend or family member often notices things about your hearing that you don’t, and it helps to have someone with you when we go through the results. If you’re booking on behalf of a parent or relative, you’re very welcome to come along too.
You’ll see our live diary the moment you open the booking form, so you can see the next free appointment and pick a time that suits you. If nothing shown works for you, give us a call on 01646 428420 and we’ll do our best to help.
Yes. If getting to Milford Haven is difficult, we’ll bring the equipment to you and carry out a full hearing assessment at home, anywhere in Pembrokeshire. Home visits are arranged by phone rather than online, so please call us on 01646 428420 to book one.
We’re at 5 Neptune House, Nelson Quay, Milford Haven, SA73 3BH, down on the marina. There’s car parking on Milford Waterfront a short walk from the door. If you have any access needs, tell us when you book or call ahead on 01646 428420 and we’ll make sure everything is ready for you.
That’s fine, and it’s useful to bring any results you have. A second opinion is often reassuring, and our assessment looks closely at how your hearing affects your day-to-day life. We’re happy to explain how the two compare, and we’ll never criticise the care you’ve already had.
